Common questions
- Is my video uploaded?
- No. Muting, compressing, trimming, audio extraction, and GIF conversion all run in your browser. Your file never leaves your device.
- Which operations are lossless?
- Mute and trim use stream copy, so the video is not re-encoded and stays identical. Compressing and GIF conversion re-encode the video and may change quality slightly.
- Why does the first run download ~31 MB?
- The browser loads the FFmpeg WebAssembly engine. It is downloaded once and then served from the browser cache.
- Which formats are supported?
- Common containers such as MP4, M4V, MOV, WebM, and MKV. Mute and trim keep the source container; compression outputs MP4; audio extraction supports MP3, M4A, and WAV.
- Are there GIF limits?
- GIF encoding is frame-by-frame, so keep clips under about 15 seconds. Higher resolution and frame rate make the GIF larger and slower to render.
- Is there a file size limit?
- Processing is limited by browser memory. Files under 1.5 GB work best; very large files may fail.
